Our Story
PBL began with a conversation at home and one 7.5-tonne truck.
Paul had spent years driving before becoming an operations manager. With the phone constantly ringing, he said to his wife “Why am I running 100 trucks for them when I could run one for myself?”
That was the beginning of Paul Byrne Logistics. On 17th October 2003, Paul completed his first job as PBL.
Paul drove himself at first, gradually bringing in other drivers as the work increased. Eventually, he moved into the office full-time as the business grew steadily.
Then Covid arrived – it effectively wiped us out and we had to make the difficult decision to pause operations. When restrictions began to lift, Paul hired a vehicle and went back out driving. Within two days, there was enough work to begin to increase the fleet again.
In 2021, we bought our own vehicles for the first time and gave PBL a full rebrand, with a new logo and fully liveried trucks. Seeing our own vehicles out on the road carrying the PBL name was a big moment and something Paul never thought would happen.
Since then, we’ve grown year on year, celebrating 20 years in business in 2023. Today, our team and fleet continue to grow with plans for further expansion.
In 2026, we also launched PBL Training & Compliance, offering Driver CPC training.
We’re still a family business and we’re looking forward to what the future brings.
